  San Miguel sea lion virus 8 (SMSV-8) was isolated from Northern fur seals (Callorhinus ursinus) on St. Paul Island, Alaska in 1976 (Smith et al., 1981) is most closely related to mink calicivirus (J.D. Neill, unpub.).
